This faculty’s study abroad feature distinguishes it from other universities. Although the period of the study abroad program is short, we believe that it is an authentic experience. Students from our faculty can study abroad for short periods of time at five foreign universities in Australia, Thailand, Sweden, Taiwan, and the U.S.A. Students are even provided with financial support for their travel costs. In the summer, students from these five universities are invited to attend this faculty’s summer school and to study about the environment. This arrangement allows students from each university to continue visiting each other’s universities. Exchange students visiting Nagasaki do not solely attend lectures, but they are also assigned fieldwork and group presentation. Our faculty’s students strengthen international cultural exchange by participating in these assignments as support for the exchange students, participating a group discussion, hosting a welcome party, and showing the exchange students around tourist attractions. In turn, our students, who become acquaintances of the exchange students, are similarly taken care of wherever they go when they study abroad.
